Principal's Message
Dear Ekstrand Families and Community Members,It is my honor and privilege to serve as the new principal of Ekstrand Elementary. I look forward to getting to know and supporting our dedicated and talented staff, our vibrant and diverse families and community, and our wonderful group of student leaders.I bring over twenty-three years of experience working with elementary students including eight years as classroom teacher, five years as Title I/Bilingual Coordinator, and ten years as a Principal.On a personal note, my wife and I have lived in the city of Whittier for over fourteen years. I have two daughters, ages eleven and five. We love hiking and biking the trails of San Dimas and all that this community offers. As a parent, teacher and administrator, I am fortunate to view education from all three perspectives. Like you, I simply want what is best for our children.As Principal, I will strive to maximize potential by providing an environment that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive. One that values diversity and allows for collaboration at every level.I am excited to build upon Ekstrand’s prior successes and for all the wonderful learning opportunities that lie ahead.Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
